Gun Control

Another silly argument we as Americans find ourselves having. WTF are we allowing our government the power to do to us as a nation. Yes ladies and Gents, this is a liberal talking. Root word LIBERTY. Anyway, why do we allow heavy gun control and fairly heavy regulation in a country where the average citizen is no where near as well armed as his representative military? I am not talking about the loop holes that do exist like Gun Shows. I am talking about trying to buy a good weapon from a reputable dealer. It is ridiculous the paperwork etc, registration, locks, name it. Get out of my house.

Now I have heard the arguments against firearms in the US. Murder rates by handgun. Robberies by gun. Strong arm house entries by gun. Kids shot at home. Kids shooting friends. People shooting up schools, restaurants, work. The list does seem endless. The fact 9,300+ people have been killed in this country to date - http://www.nationmaster.com/red/country/us-united-states/cri-crime&all=1 - doesn't mean we are violent. Does being #4 on the list mean we need to regulate firearms more? Do we have a lack of patience because of our instant access, instant gratification society? Do we fight just because that is how our nation was built; fighters, in the streets, on the job, in the ring, at home and abroad? Do we kill each other because we are not educated for the most part, and consider ourselves cool to continue to keep the Caveman mentality? I think not, or not quite.

I think it is a combination of all of the above. We are, or at least were a rough breed of mutts for along time. The Toughest German, Irish, Italian, Scottish, British, Dutch, French, Ukrainian, Indian, African, Polish, Russian... it goes on forever... people came here to cut out a life for themselves and their families anyway they could. We are fighters folks. Whether we like it or not. We have at least a part of society that looks at the average person like a Lion with raw meat. You are to be taken from, you are a "mark", you are easy picking, you have no clue what it is like on the street. There are major differences between how life is viewed in this country and the value therein. Most people, with something to lose, do not want to hurt others so they are in favor of gun control for everyone because it might help their "pretty" society continue to progress, and stop people from murdering so much. Wrong. Other people just don't like a noisy bang thing, and they should all just go away. Wrong.

You also have the "cold dead hands" side. These people are just as much idiots as the other side. OK, get a concealed carry. I understand. Are you going to conceal a .50 caliber Sniper rifle in your holster? How about an AK-47? Maybe that sweet SKS you had your eye on at the gun show? OOOO, I know, carry that Oozie and the Tech and your shoulder fired Rocket Launcher on your back at the same time and you are pimpin... Wrong. There are a few things that if carried on the street should be a bit concerning...lol

However, I have a resolution to this issue. If you are not "crazy (which is relative), and you are of good health, and can pass a civics test, you are REQUIRED to carry a gun in this nation to support your fellow man. You will be taught to use it and well, you will be taught all of the needs of citizenship by protecting others. You will be on spot the next time there is a guy at school who has a gun, the history teacher would be able to lay him down. The kid behind the counter that actually graduated high school and is going to college unloads on the freak who pulls out an AK to rob the place. A set of grandmothers all throw down on a guy in the city at night because they had what it takes to stop their own mugging. The country would be a new place. Crime down, and people would behave again.

Rant Done!!!

  1. I agree wholeheartedly! Alas in a perfect Utopian society. ):

Do you have any supporting data on countries that allow their citizens free wielding weapons rights that show crime is actually lower though and that people feel safer?
